July 2025 Summer Service Mission to Vietnam

In 2025, VietCorps funded the building of a classroom and play yard for Chien Chang Elementary School in the mountains of northern Viet Nam, which allowed the school to accommodate another 60 students, most of whom are ethnic minorities living in Son La Province. The VietCorps team visited in July 2025 to bring books for the library, 125 school bags and supplies for students in first through fifth grades, and two large TV/projection screens to support remote/virtual instruction of courses that are taught by teachers who are not located in the remote province. Some students in the school have also expressed interest in learning English from VietCorps tutors in the U.S. The VietCorps team received a plaque of appreciation from the administrators of the school and of Son La Province, but most of all, from the students and villagers.
