July 2026 Summer Service Mission to Vietnam

In July of 2026, VietCorps completed our annual service mission to Vietnam with a heartfelt visit to Hiệp Phú Elementary School (grades 1 through 5, serving over 1,600 students) in Saigon. Our team had the privilege of connecting directly with students, teachers, and school administrators, gaining deeper insight into their daily challenges and aspirations while delivering meaningful support to enhance educational opportunities.
A highlight of the mission was the installation of a striking new 12 x 9 feet LED monitor in the school’s central square. This state-of-the-art digital display now serves as a vibrant focal point for learning, transforming how teachers deliver instruction and how students engage with educational content. Teachers can use the large, high-resolution screen for dynamic classroom presentations, interactive lessons, educational videos, and visual storytelling that bring subjects to life in vivid color and detail.
Beyond traditional classroom use, the monitor enables live virtual learning experiences that were previously out of reach. It allows the school to host real-time virtual guest speakers, online workshops, and collaborative sessions with educators and partner schools. This powerful tool helps bridge the digital divide, fosters global awareness, and prepares students for a technology-driven future by making modern, engaging education accessible to every child at the school.
In addition to the LED monitor, VietCorps donated new school backpacks filled with supplies to 56 underprivileged students, giving them the tools they need to start the new school year with confidence and dignity. We also awarded academic scholarships to 15 deserving students to support their continued education and celebrate their hard work and potential. To further enrich the school’s resources, our team donated more than 1,000 books, significantly expanding the library collection and opening new doors to reading and discovery.
Education and personal connection were at the heart of our visit. VietCorps volunteers led lively English tutoring sessions filled with interactive lessons, games, and activities that encouraged students to practice speaking, listening, and teamwork in a fun, supportive environment. These moments not only built language skills but also boosted confidence and created lasting memories.
Beyond the school, our group explored Vietnam’s rich culture, history, and natural beauty, strengthening bonds within the team and deepening our appreciation for the country and its people. We are profoundly grateful for the warm hospitality extended by the school community and everyone we met.
At VietCorps, we remain committed to creating lasting impact through education and service. We look forward to future missions that continue to empower students and communities across Vietnam.
